The Minister for Education and Minister for Youth Justice, the Honourable Di Farmer MP announced that the Queensland Government will be establishing a Home Education Expert Group (HEEG) to allow for parents and stakeholders to contribute to a review of home schooling in Queensland.

Dr. Terry Harding, manager of ACHS, has already been nominated by the Queensland Government to be part of the HEEG.

All parents of a child currently registered for home education in Queensland have been sent an invitation to express interest in being a parent member of the HEEG. These invitations have been sent by email or express post if you have not provided an email to the HEU.

To be considered to be part of the HEEG you will need to complete the Expression of Interest (EoI) form online using the unique link included in the email.

The Expression of Interest for the Home Education Expert Group will be available on the Home Education Unit webpage at https://education.qld.gov.au/schools-educators/other-education/home-education.

At ACHS, we encourage parents who have been home schooling for two or more years, and are happy to work with other home schoolers of different styles, to apply online, to become part of the HEEG. Your role will be to express your thoughts to the HEEG as a home schooling parent at the HEEG meetings.

This is an opportunity to have an influence in both the current policies and the future of home schooling in Queensland. Please prayerfully consider if you should be part of this important development.
