Literacy Tips

Updated: Apr 1, 2021

  1. Young children often want to read their favourite stories over and over again. Even though you may get sick of reading the same old story, repetition helps children to learn. Each time children hear a story, they notice new things. They also become more familiar with the structure and sequence of stories.

  2. Have your children read lots. They can re-read to you a favourite story in a PACE, or they can read to you a favourite story or page in a chapter book. Some home educators take turns with their young readers in reading a paragraph then having the child read a paragraph.

  3. Why not read a story to your children before bed? – A top idea to grow a love of books, stories and literacy, that will last your child’s lifetime.
