We use spoken and written words every single day to communicate ideas, thoughts, and emotions to those around us. Sometimes we communicate successfully, and sometimes we’re not quite so successful. A good vocabulary can help us say what we mean. Here are some new words to add to your student’s vocabulary, which will help him/her to better understand Information Communication Technology (ICT).
Internet (noun)
The system that connects millions of computer networks. It allows users to communicate, share resources and information across great distances
Operating system (noun)
A set of programs or software that allows a user to operate a computer’s various parts (or hardware)
Software (noun)
Different sets of instructions or programs for a computer to follow
URL (noun)
Each Web page has a unique string of characters assigned to it. This is a Uniform Resource Locator or URL. It is also called a Web address. When a user types a URL into a browser’s address bar, the browser will display the Web page.
Virus (noun)
A program created to steal or damage information on a computer.
