We use spoken and written words every single day to communicate ideas, thoughts, and emotions to those around us. Sometimes we communicate successfully, and sometimes we’re not quite so successful. A good vocabulary can help us say what we mean. Here are some new words to add to your student’s vocabulary.


Easter (noun)

an annual Christian festival in commemoration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, observed on the first Sunday after the first full moon, after the vernal equinox


truth (noun)

a verified or undisputable fact, proposition or principle


goodness (noun)

moral excellence; virtue


beauty (noun)

the quality that gives deep satisfaction arising from physical shape, colour or sound; or a meaningful design, pattern or spiritual quality


virtue (noun)

moral excellence, goodness, righteousness
