We use spoken and written words every single day to communicate ideas, thoughts, and emotions to those around us. Sometimes we communicate successfully, and sometimes we’re not quite so successful. A good vocabulary can help us say what we mean. Here are some new words to add to your student’s vocabulary.
Giant (noun)
A person or thing of unusually great size, endowments, importance, etc.
e.g. The apostle Paul could be considered a spiritual giant.
Generation (noun)
The whole body of individuals born about the same time. Or, the term of years (commonly thirty) accepted as the average age between one generation of a family and the next.
e.g. . I am thankful for the faith of the previous generation!
Faithful (adjective)
Strict or thorough in the performance of duty.
e.g. Well done, good and faithful servant. Matthew 25:21
Regale (verb)
To entertain agreeably; delight.
e.g. Our parents would regale us with stories from their youth.
Adopt (verb)
to take as one's own child, specifically by a formal legal act.
e.g. We will adopt you into the family.
Foundation (noun)
That on which something is founded.
e.g. The word of God is a good foundation for your life.
