LOG-O-PHILE

We use spoken and written words every single day to communicate ideas, thoughts, and emotions to those around us. Sometimes we communicate successfully, and sometimes we’re not quite so successful. A good vocabulary can help us say what we mean. Here are some new words to add to your student’s vocabulary.
faith (noun)
Confidence or trust in a person or thing.
e.g. Jack put his faith in God.
godly (adjective)
Conforming to God’s laws. Pious.
e.g. She is a godly woman.
health (noun)
Soundness of body; free from disease.
e.g. Sandra enjoys good health.
jealous (adjective)
A feeling of resentment against a successful rival.
e.g. The Pharisees were jealous of Jesus’ popularity.
virus (noun)
An infectious agent that reproduces in the cells of living hosts.
e.g. The SARS-CoV-2 virus caused COVID-19.
