We use spoken and written words every single day to communicate ideas, thoughts, and emotions to those around us. Sometimes we communicate successfully, and sometimes we’re not quite so successful. A good vocabulary can help us say what we mean. Here are some new words to add to your student’s vocabulary.
Christmas (noun)
The annual Christian festival which remembers the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ.
e.g. We sang Christmas carols at church.
The Incarnation (noun)
The name of the time when the Son of God became a man, the Lord Jesus Christ.
e.g. The Incarnation is when God became a human being.
gift (noun)
A present given to a person. It is not earned.
e.g. God sent his Son as a gift to all mankind.
Nativity scene
An artist’s presentation of Jesus’ birth.
e.g. The Myer store has a Nativity scene in the front window at Christmas time.
worship (verb)
To give honour and reverence to God.
e.g. The wise men worshipped the Lord Jesus in the house at Nazareth.
